- Developing an attitude for Bible study
- Why do we even need to study the Bible?
- God chose to communicate His will to us in writing (Ephesians 3:1-6; I Timothy 2:4)
- Jude 3; Galatians 1:6-9 – there is no revelation still to come! Everything we need is in the text.
- We need to know God’s word so we can be disciples of Christ (John 8:31-32; 12:48).
- Ignorance of God’s word has always been a problem (Hosea 4:6), and that problem continues today.
- God chose to communicate His will to us in writing (Ephesians 3:1-6; I Timothy 2:4)
- Bad attitudes and habits that get in the way
- II Peter 3:14-18 – It is possible to misuse scripture.
- Hypocrisy (Matthew 7:1-5; Romans 2:1ff)
- We must apply the Bible to ourselves.
- We cling to faulty, human traditions (Mark 7:1-13)
- We reject good, Biblical traditions (I Corinthians 11:2; Acts 17:21)
- The random approach (II Timothy 2:15)
- We oversimplify (Mark 4:10-12; Luke 20:37; Acts 17:11)
- Why do we even need to study the Bible?
