• Luke 1:11-11:4
  • Luke 10:11-18 – Jesus expected those people who had heard the preaching and seen the miracles to believe and repent!
    • Luke 10:15 – See Luke 4:31-41. Jesus worked many miracles in Capernaum.
    • Luke 10:16 – These disciples were authoritative in their preaching because Jesus sent them.
  • Luke 10:17-20 – The disciples were to rejoice that their names were written in heaven.
    • Luke 10:18 – See Isaiah 14:12. In Isaiah, it is referring to the king of Babylon. “Falling from heaven” is a metaphor for falling from a place of power. The verse in Luke is not parallel to this verse. We do not have enough information to prove that Satan somehow fell from heaven. It could just be saying that when the disciples were casting out demons, Jesus could see that happening as though Satan was falling like lightning.
  • Luke 10:21-24 – Obeying God requires diligent work to seek out truth and obey it. God’s wisdom is often hidden from those of great intelligence.
  • Luke 10:25-37 – The parable of the good Samaritan. The lawyer tries to justify himself by asking who his neighbor is, but Jesus turns it around on him by telling him to be the neighbor to other people.
  • Luke 10:38-42 – Serving God must come first, even if other good works get pushed aside.
  • Luke 11:1-4 – The disciples saw Jesus praying and asked Him how they should pray. Jesus gives them an example of a good short prayer.
    • Luke 11:1 – See I Peter 2:12. We are to be examples of good behavior to others.
