Porn is often a response to EMOTIONS.

  • Proverbs 7:25
  • Porn often becomes a way of medicating emotions rather than dealing with them properly.
  • The Way of Escape - Jacob Hudgins
  • Genesis 4:5
  • Genesis 25:29-34 - Esau despised his birthright.
  • I Kings 19:3, 10

I need to adjust back to wholesome ENTERTAINMENT.

  • Psalms 16:8-11
  • Jeremiah 2:13
  • Porn is like drinking salt water. It may seem like a solution when you are in distress, but it will kill you in the end.
  • Jeremiah 4:13
  • There will be a period almost like withdrawal when you quit porn.
  • When we quit junk food, we must get used to the flavor of healthy food again.

I need to find proper outlets for STRESS.

  • Porn seems to offer freedom, but it enslaves us.
  • Matthew 11:28
  • Psalms 55:1-2, 16-19, 22-23

“Dealing productively with my emotions”

  • Have I talked to God about this? (I Peter 5:7)
  • Can/should I do anything about it? (Matthew 5:24)
  • Are there some things I must accept? (Luke 16:25)
  • What does God say about my situation? (I Thessalonians 4:3-5)
  • Can others help? (Galatians 6:1-2)

MYTH: I need to have sex (I Corinthians 7:8-9)

MYTH: Marriage will solve my sexual problems (II Samuel 11:4)

  • David was married at this time to multiple women!

  • Matthew 15:17
  • There are some words like “hell” that are good, Biblical words, but they should not be used in a flippant way that cheapens the meaning of the word.
  • How much more so for the name of God!
  • Ezra 9:6 - “Oh my God”

Ephesians 4:29; 5:3-5

  • Avoid things that are vulgar, impure, or unkind.

Luke 20

Luke 20:1-8 - The Pharisees try to trap Jesus

  • This was a legitimate question, but it was asked with impure motives, which Jesus made clear by His response.

Luke 20:9-19 - Parable of the wicked tenants

  • In this parable:
    • Owner = God
    • Vinegrowers = Israel
    • Slaves of the owner = prophets
    • Son of the owner = Jesus

Luke 20:20-40 - Jesus questioned about paying taxes and the resurrection

  • Luke 20:37-38 - The Jews held only the Pentateuch to be authoritative, so Jesus gave them a counter-example from Exodus. This also shows just how carefully God expects us to read scripture!

Luke 20:41-44 - How was Jesus both David’s son and Lord?

  • Jesus was David’s son by lineage, but Jesus is deity, thus David’s Lord.
  • Luke 20:42 - This is quoting Psalms 110:1.
