God expects us to take the opportunity to help others

• Galatians 6:9-10 – Don’t grow weary doing good.
• Matthew 25:14-30 – Our reward will depend on our use of the talents God has given us.
• Matthew 25:31-46 – Helping others is helping Christ.

God expects us to have compassion

• Compassion is “suffering with one another.”
• Without compassion, it’s hard to see opportunities.
• Examples of God’s compassion: Psalms 86:15; 111:4; 145:8-9; 78:37-38
• Examples of Jesus’ compassion:
  • Spiritual needs: Matthew 9:36; James 5:19-20
  • Physical needs: Matthew 15:32; 20:34; I John 3:16-17; James 5:13-16
