      • Tongue-speaking was mean to actually communicate to others.
      • Tongue-speaking would serve as a sign and confirmation of the divine origin of the message.
      • Tongue-speaking was not automatically given to people upon baptism. Acts 2:41, 43; 8:14-15
      • Spiritual gifts served their purpose and have ceased.
      • I Corinthians 13:9-10 – Miraculous spiritual gifts would go away when the “perfect” had come. Paul looked forward to the time when the “perfect” would come – complete knowledge. Complete knowledge is now available and thus spiritual gifts have ceased.
