- I Peter 3:15-4:6
- I Peter 3:15-16 – Tell people how to live godly lives and show them by your example. Together, those two things may bring some to follow Christ.
- I Peter 3:18-20 – Some take the view that this is saying that Jesus descended to Hell to preach to the spirits there. However, this does not harmonize with other scriptures.
- II Peter 2:5 – Noah described as a preacher of righteousness.
- Isaiah 61:1-2 – Jesus quotes this in Luke 4 and applies it to Himself. The prison is the prison of sin.
- Ephesians 4:8 – Jesus led a host of captives.
- Conclusion: Jesus in the spirit spoke through Noah to the sinful people while the ark was being built.
- I Peter 3:21 – The reason for mentioning Noah in I Peter 3:18-20 was to make the connection of salvation and water to baptism.
- I Peter 4:3 – This verse directly condemns social drinking as it condemns both drunkenness and drinking parties.
- I Peter 4:5 – When Jesus comes again, He will judge both those who are still alive when He comes and those who have already died.
