• Luke 1:26-2:20
  • Luke 1:26-38 – Jesus’ birth is foretold. Notice that Mary gladly accepted her role and was up to the task. We need to have the same good attitude when we have an opportunity to serve God.
  • Luke 1:39-45 – Mary visits Elizabeth.
  • Luke 1:46-56 – Mary rejoices. Often called the Magnificat.
  • Luke 1:57-66 – John the Baptist is born.
  • Luke 1:67-80 – Zacharias prophesies about John and his work preparing the way for Jesus.
    • Luke 1:80 – Compare Luke 2:40.
  • Luke 1:37 – The Bible is filled with many events considered to be impossible. Isn’t it wonderful to serve a God with whom nothing is impossible?
  • Luke 2:1-6 – Joseph and Mary to go Bethlehem to be taxed by the Roman Empire. Jesus would be a king, but His parents were humble, average people that had to travel long distances to pay taxes just like everybody else!
  • Luke 2:7 – Jesus is born!
  • Luke 2:8-14 – The angel appears to the shepherd to announce the birth of Jesus.
    • Luke 2:11 – The angel specifically refers to Jesus as the Christ.

    • Luke 2:15-20 – The shepherds go to see the baby Jesus.
