- Leadership transfers from Moses to Joshua and then a series of judges.
- Israel requests a king and God gives them Saul.
- After Solomon, Israel splits into Israel and Judah.
- II Kings 17:5.
- Judah has a few good kings, but eventually goes into Babylonian captivity in 586 B.C.
- Israel is finally released from captivity and a remnant returns to restore Jerusalem. Nehemiah 9:1
- It is important to follow God’s law!
- God shows us the need that mankind had for a system of salvation. The stage is set for the fulfillment of the third promise.

- Matthew 4:23 - Jesus proclaimed “the gospel of the kingdom”
- Hebrews 10:4 - Animal sacrifice is insufficient.
- Hebrews 9:22 - Forgiveness of sins requires the shedding of blood.
