  • Hebrews 12:22-24 - The writer here is telling the audience that they have come to the church of the New Covenant, not the Old Covenant. We as Christians are part of the “general assembly and church of the firstborn.” He was trying tos who them that they were under the New Covenant and should not forsake it for the Old Covenant despite what persecution they may have to deal with.

  • If we keep the right perspective and do not act selfishly, we will not have a problem with grumbling and complaining like the Israelites did. We must remember and have faith that God will provide for us.

  • Numbers 16 - Korah was a Levite, but he was not satisfied with his place and rose up in rebellion against Moses and Aaron.

  • “Gainsaying” simply means “speaking against”.

  • I John 1:5-10 - If we say that we have no sin, we are liars and God’s word is not in us.
