II Timothy 1:14 - This is one of the very few passages that talk about the Holy Spirit dwelling in the Christian.

Ephesians 3:17 - Christ dwells in our hearts by faith. This is the same way God the Father and the Holy Spirit dwell in us.

Colossians 3:16 - The word of Christ is to be that which motivates and directs our lives.

The Holy Spirit dwells in one when one allows the word delivered by the Holy Spirit to direct his life. (See John 14:26

II Timothy 1:18 - We all hope to find mercy in judgment. We can’t hope to have gotten everything so right in our lives that we have no need of mercy.

II Timothy 2:2 - We all have the responsibility to teach others.

II Timothy 2:3. At some point, Timothy was imprisoned for teaching the truth.

II Timothy 2:4-5.

II Timothy 2:6.

Mark 12:38-40 - Be careful of those who walk around in long robes and desire the adoration and respect of others.

Mark 12:41-44 - The poor widow gives two mites into the collection.

Giving to God is about the heart, not the amount.

This is not teaching that we are to give all of our money to God. There is no specificied amount under the new law. (II Corinthians 9:6-9

Mark 13:1 - The stones of the temple were truly massive, some as large as 45x12x11 feet.

Mark 13:30 - All these things that were prophesied were going to happen in the time of the generation that was then alive.

Many live for things.

Genesis 13 - Lot chose the good land desptire the ungodly people that lived there.

Ecclesiastes 2:3-11 - Solomon decided that all the pleasures of earth were vanity.

II Timothy 4:10 - Demas was guilty of materialism.

II Peter 1:9

Many live for popularity.

Many live for riches.

Some live for Christ.

Jonah: You can’t hide from God.

I Timothy 3:1 - Elders must desire the work.

Abraham: Stand on God’s promises.

Romans 2:6-11 - God promises to render to each of us according to our deeds.

II Timothy 1:5 - Timothy’s faith came from the teaching of his mother and grandmother and from his own study. Like him, we must study to build our own faith.

II Timothy 1:6 - Timothy had a spiritual gift he had received from Paul.

I Timothy 4:14 - The gift was through the agency of Paul with the approval of the elders. Some point to these two verses as a contradiction in the Bible, but a study of the original wording clarifies the issue.

II Timothy 1:8 - We are to be joyful if we must suffer for the gospel.

II Timothy 1. This is not teaching that obedience is unnecessary as some claim. We must still be obedient, but we can’t be obedient enough to merit our own salvation. We must still rely on God’s grace.

I Peter 1:20 - Our salvation was planned before creation of the world.

II Timothy 1. Timothy was to hold fast to what he was taught and teach it to others.
