    • Not simply reformation of life
  • What repentance means

    • Luke 15:11-24 – the prodigal son
    • Repentance involves
      • Sense of sin
      • Sorrow for sin
      • Severance from sin
    • II Corinthians 7:9-10
    • Repentance fully defined: A change of will caused by godly sorrow for sin leading to a reformation of life.
  • Two things used to bring men to repentance
    • Fear – II Corinthians 5:10-11; Philippians 2:12; Jude 1:23
    • Love – Romans 2:4
  • Cannot escape repentance – Luke 13:3
  • Alien sinners – Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30
  • Erring Christians
    • Acts 8:22-24 – Simon the sorcerer
    • I John 1:5-10

  • Conclusion: God is ready to forgive you if you will repent.

 

Are You a Christian?

  • Being a Christian means you have a relationship with Christ.
  • Acts 11:26 – The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.
    • Acts 11:19-26 – These people had heard the good news of Christ and had turned to the Lord.
    • Christian” might be a name given to them by outsiders, which indicates that outsiders could tell they had turned to the Lord.
    • Have you turned to the Lord?

    • What are you really converted to? Socializing? To pleasing your family? To the habit of attending services?

    • Acts 26:5,9,15,19 – Paul was against Jesus until he turned to serve the Lord.
    • Have you switched to Christ’s side like Paul did?

      • There is a big difference between switching to Christ’s side and trying to switch Christ to your side.
