  • The deity of God
    • Omnipotence – Amos 4:13; 5:8
      • Amos 1:3-2:8 – Judgment against the nations
    • Omniscience – Amos 9:3-4; Psalms 139:8
  • The personality of God
    • Amos 1:3 – God communicates with others.
    • Amos 4:2 – God swears by Himself.
    • Amos 5:21 – God is capable of hate.
    • Acts 7:3, 6 – God repents.
      • The sinner can affect the actions of God. If he turns to righteousness, God will bless him. If he turns to sin, God will condemn him.
    • Amos 9:3-4 – Compare Hebrews 5:8. God commands obedience.
    • Amos 5:4, 6, 8 – God is merciful. II Peter 3:9

Walking With God

  • Genesis 5:24 – Enoch walked with God.
    • He walked by faith.
    • He pleased God (Hebrews 11:5)
      • We should walk so that we please God and not ourselves.
      • Many are too careful to please others instead of God. (John 12:42)
  • Genesis 6:9 – Noah walked with God
    • Hebrews 11:7
    • He walked by faith.
      • Acts 27:25 – Paul showed faith when captive on a storm-tossed ship.
    • He heeded God’s word.
    • He was moved with fear.
    • He built the ark.
      • Walking with God involves making preparation.
      • Amos 4:12 – Amos told the people to prepare to meet God.
    • He saved his house.
    • He condemned the world.
    • The result: Noah became heir of the righteousness which is by faith (Hebrews 11:7).
