  • Malachi 2:10-17
  • The relationship between husband and wife is the most intimate, the most sharing, the most productive, the most glorious, the most loving, and should be the most revered of all physical relationships.
  • Matthew 19:9
  • When one divorces his wife and marries another without the cause of fornication, he:
    • Profanes the covenant of the fathers (Malachi 2:10)
    • Deals treacherously with his wife (Malachi 2:14)
    • Commits abomination before God (Malachi 2:11)
      • Is an alien sinner amenable to God’s marriage law?
        • Yes, God’s marriage law is for all – not just Christians. I Corinthians 5
      • But I’ve been baptized!
        • Your sins were forgiven, but you cannot continue living in the sin of an adulterous relationship.
      • Profanes the holiness of God (Malachi 2:11)
        • Ephesians 5:22-31 – The marriage relationship is patterned after the relationship of Christ to the church.
      • His children are not a “godly seed” (Malachi 2:15)
        • I Corinthians 7:14
      • Wearies the Lord by calling it good (Malachi 2:17)
      • Is cut off from the Lord (Malachi 2:13)
