    • Proverbs 30:8-9 – Prayer must be a sincere thing.
    • We must keep in mind our need for God.
    • Matthew 6:7-8 – Do not use meaningless repetition in your prayers.

    • Suggestion: plan a special, focused prayer each day
      • Monday: leaders – I Timothy 2:2
      • Tuesday: praise – Psalm 8:1
      • Wednesday: Christians – Acts 12:5
      • Thursday: family – Ephesians 5:25
      • Friday: miscellaneous – Philippians 4:6
      • Saturday: myself – Psalms 19:14
    • Ways to do this:
      • Make a prayer list
      • Designate a time
      • Use an app (Prayer Notebook, Prayer Mate, etc.)
    • Read!
      • Hosea 4:1-6 – The importance of knowing God’s word
      • Deuteronomy 17:18-20 – the benefits of reading the word of God
      • Suggestion: choose a Bible reading plan for 2015
        • Nothing will give you an overarching understanding of the Bible story like reading the Bible itself.
        • Nothing will familiarize you with the Bible like reading it.
      • How to do this:
        • Choose a good translation: KJV, NKJV, ASV, NASB, ESV
        • Designate a time
        • Decide on a plan
          • The classic: just pick it up and read it
          • Use a special daily reading Bible
          • Use a daily reading plan
          • Use an app
