• Romans 1:16; I Thessalonians 2:13; I Peter 2:2 – We should have reverence and respect for the word of God and take the time to read and study it because it has the power of God behind it and because we need to obey it in order to be saved.
• Ezra 3:1-4; Nehemiah 13:1-3- The people stood up and showed respect during the reading of the law and then immediately obeyed what was written.
  • Ezra 3:4; See also Nehemiah 8:13-18. The statement in Nehemiah is about 92 years later. It could either be talking about the manner in which the feast was conducted (possibly actually living in booths during the feast) or it could simply be hyperbolic language.
